Quick Start

Product Overview

Our Openterface™ Mini-KVM allows you to control a nearby headless computer (which we refer to as the Target) directly from your own laptop or desktop (referred to as the Host), via usb and HDMI connection, without the need for an extra keyboard, mouse, monitor or network.

Product Features

  • Host App Compatibility: Supports macOS, Windows, and Linux, with Android support in development.

  • Plug-and-Play Convenience: Instant control upon connection, with no software installation or configuration on the target device. Leaves no software traces on the target computer.

  • Network Independence: Stable and fast headless control via HDMI and emulated keyboard/mouse (HID) input.

  • Ultra-Portable Design: Its compact and lightweight design makes it the perfect tool for professionals on the go.

  • Full HD with Low Latency: Supported output video up to 1920x1080@30Hz with under 140 milliseconds of latency. Adaptable to VGA, Micro HDMI, DVI, and other inputs with a video adapter.

  • Audio Integration: Captures and plays the target device's audio directly on the host computer.

  • BIOS-Level Access: Provides direct access to the target device's BIOS, firmware, or startup management.

  • Switchable USB Type-A Port: This allows you to toggle USB access between the host and the target, ideal for sharing a USB drive without replugging.

  • Text Transfer: Allows text to be sent from the host to the target device, ideal for copying usernames, passwords, or code snippets.

Connection Procedure

To set up your Mini-KVM, follow these steps:

  • Host Computer Connection:
    • Type-C Connection: Connect the master computer to the mini-KVM using a Type-C USB cable, plugging it into the Type-C female port on the orange side of the mini-KVM.
  • Target Device Connection:
    • Type-C Connection: Connect the target device to the mini-KVM using a Type-C USB cable, plugging it into the Type-C female port on the black side of the mini-KVM.
    • Video Output: Connect the target device's video output port to the HDMI female port on the black side of the mini-KVM using an HDMI cable, a VGA-to-HDMI cable, or any other appropriate video-source-to-HDMI cable.

Target Compatibility

No pre-installation or configuration is required on the target device. As long as the target device supports UI operations with video output (HDMI, VGA, e.g.) and has a USB port to receive emulated keyboard and mouse control (HID) signals, it can be used. Thus, Supported target device platforms include Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.
